Missables · Points of no return

Final Fantasy Resonance missables and points of no return

Sources disagree on whether anything can be lost for good. Three outlets say nothing is missable; others flag a few one-time chests and fights. The one point they agree on is near the end of Chapter 8: save before the last teleport of the final climb.

Who says what

Neither camp has shown its work in a way we can check. The two sides are not even clean: RPG Site says no important item or achievement is missable, yet also marks a Chapter 8 point of no return and some timed optional chats. We do not pick a side.

Nothing important is lost

3 outlets
DualShockers · 22 October 2026
Says the game has zero missable content: every dungeon, Vision and chest can be reached later.
PowerPyx trophy guide · 22 October 2026
Lists 0 missable trophies; all 40 can be earned on Casual difficulty.
RPG Site walkthrough · 22 October 2026
No important items or achievements are missable; only some optional chats and dialogues have limited windows.

Some things look one-time

4 outlets
Game8
Lists 4 warnings: scripted-sequence chests, a one-time Citrine Pot fight, a scripted item loss and stat-changing dialogue choices.
MeowDB · demo
Lists 4 Chapter 1 warnings, written from the demo build. Some are credited to Reddit players, not the game's data.
RPG Site
Flags 3 things: some timed optional chats and a Chapter 8 point of no return.
ffresonance.wiki
Reports 2 points of no return, but says they are warnings, not locks, and that you can resume near the end.

Points of no return by chapter

A point of no return is a moment where the story moves on and you cannot walk back. Whether you lose anything is the disputed part. Chapter 1 is shown below; later chapters sit behind a spoiler veil.

ChapterWhat is reportedReported byStatus
1 A scripted story sequence inside Grandshelt Castle. Game8 says you cannot walk back in afterwards, so unopened chests are lost. Game8, MeowDB Disputed
1 The Siren's Tower chest guarded by Gilgamesh. Both guides call the fight a scripted loss, so you cannot keep the gloves yet. Not a permanent loss according to either guide. Game8, MeowDB Reported

2 The Mobliz Shipyard escape, before saving Borin. A save warning more than a lock, per one fan wiki. ffresonance.wiki Pointer only
3 The Old Town of Olderion. An in-game warning says you cannot return until its event is complete. ffresonance.wiki Pointer only
4 to 7 None reported in the sources we checked. — Not verified
8 The last teleport inside the Crystal Tower, the final point of no return. RPG Site marks three rare steals as available only past it. RPG Site, ffresonance.wiki Agree on place, differ on loss

IGN's wiki and The Outerhaven had no missables page at our last look, so nothing from them is in this table.

Chests in Grandshelt Castle, including the Black Garb in a hidden room Chapter 1 Grandshelt Castle is part of a scripted story sequence. Game8 says you cannot walk back in once the sequence is over, so chests left behind are lost. MeowDB adds that the hidden-room chest is reached through a gap in the wall after the Hell's Rider fight, and that two neighbouring chests stay locked in the demo.MeowDB's Black Garb passage is credited to Reddit players, not to the game data, and its scope is the demo. Reported
Disputed

ffresonance.wiki says no chest can be missed because every chest location reopens after the story ends; DualShockers and PowerPyx also say nothing is missable. Nobody has shown which is right for this castle.

The one-time Citrine Pot fight, which pays out a lot of Mastery Rank Points (MRP) Chapters 1 onward (Siren's Tower named) Game8 says glowing pots in some dungeons start a fight with a Citrine Pot that appears only once per location; feeding it the Ether it asks for gives large MRP. MeowDB reports the pot has a rare Elixir drop and does not return in the demo, and flags that as unconfirmed.Nobody states whether the pots reset later in the full game. Reported None found
Genji Gloves from the chest guarded by Gilgamesh Chapter 1 (Siren's Tower) Both guides say the fight with Gilgamesh is a scripted loss: he takes the gloves back. So you cannot keep them at that point. Game8 suggests opening every chest in dungeons because Gilgamesh may turn up again. This is an item you cannot keep yet rather than a permanent loss; neither source says whether the gloves can be obtained later. Reported None found
Story dialogue choices that permanently raise a character's stats Various Game8 says some conversation choices give permanent stat boosts and cannot be changed except by loading a save made before the scene.Game8 links to a separate list of choices; we did not copy it. Reported None found
Some Active Time Chat scenes Various RPG Site says some of these optional chats appear to have limited windows of availability. It adds that none of them is needed for achievements or items.RPG Site says its list of chats is incomplete. Reported None found
Two temporary soldier shops that sell Smoke Bombs Chapter 1 (demo) MeowDB says both shops close as the story moves on. Smoke Bombs can still be farmed from enemies and found in chests.Scope is the demo; not checked in the full game. Reported None found

The last teleport inside the Crystal Tower, the final point of no return Chapter 8 RPG Site's walkthrough marks the last teleport in the Crystal Tower as the point of no return and marks three rare steals as taking place past it. The side content that remains is a reason to finish it first. The two sources agree on the location; they differ on whether anything is lost. Reported
Disputed

ffresonance.wiki reports the climb is the one final point of no return, but says the game lets you save cleared data after the ending and resume just before the final area. DualShockers says every dungeon can be revisited and nothing is missable.

Rare steals from Belphegor (Necronomicon), Gluttony (Demon's Ring) and Demon Squid (Jackpot Gun) Chapter 8 RPG Site flags these three as available only past the point of no return, so they are best handled in the last stretch rather than saved for later.Only one source lists them. Reported

Cleared-save resume (ffresonance.wiki) may allow a second attempt.

Game8 and MeowDB entries were last read 22 October 2026 and 17 September 2026 respectively. MeowDB's Black Garb passage is credited to Reddit players, and its scope is the demo.

Pointers to a site that restricts reuse

What we would do

Playing it safe costs little

Even if the three outlets are right and nothing is lost, the defensive habits are cheap. Keep a separate save before the end of each chapter. Open every chest in a location before a scripted scene moves you on. If you want a specific stat, save before a conversation choice.

Save before the last teleport of the final climb in Chapter 8. RPG Site, which otherwise says nothing important is missable, marks that spot, and ffresonance.wiki agrees on its location.

Our take

This is precaution, not a finding. We have not tested whether a single chest or fight is actually lost. When we play far enough, the stamp on each row above will change.

How we made this page

We read Game8, MeowDB, RPG Site, DualShockers, PowerPyx and ffresonance.wiki on the dates shown and wrote each row in our own words. MeowDB and ffresonance.wiki restrict reuse of their data, so they appear only as corroboration or one-line pointers. IGN and The Outerhaven had no missables page when we looked. Nothing here is a result of our own play.

Confirmed means Steam or the official site states it. Reported means press or a fan site does, not Square Enix. Our take is our own judgement. Where sources disagree we show each claim. See our sourcing rules.

Questions players ask

Can I permanently miss anything in Final Fantasy Resonance?

Sources disagree and we have not played the full game. DualShockers says there is zero missable content, PowerPyx lists no missable trophies and RPG Site says no important items or achievements are missable. Game8 and MeowDB flag a few things that look one-time, such as chests during a scripted castle sequence.

Is there a point of no return?

Yes, near the end of Chapter 8. RPG Site marks the last teleport of the final climb as the point of no return, and ffresonance.wiki agrees on the location. They differ on whether you lose anything, because ffresonance.wiki says the game lets you save cleared data and resume just before the final area.

Can I go back after the ending?

One fan wiki, ffresonance.wiki, says the game lets you save cleared data after the ending and resume just before the final area. DualShockers separately says every dungeon can be revisited. Neither is something we have tested.

Do story dialogue choices matter?

Game8 says some conversation choices give permanent stat boosts and cannot be changed unless you load a save made before the scene. It is one source and we have not checked it. We did not copy its list of choices.

Do the Chapter 1 warnings apply to the full game?

Game8 covers the full game. MeowDB wrote its Chapter 1 list from the demo, and some of its points (the Citrine Pot, the Smoke Bomb shops) are explicitly demo-scoped. Treat the demo-only ones as unconfirmed for the full game.

What should I do to be safe?

Our take: keep a separate save before the end of each chapter and before the final climb, and open every chest in a location before a scripted sequence moves the story on. It costs a few minutes and covers every claim below.
